NYS 18 hour Concealed Carry Class

 This is the new 18 hour class that NY State now requires all NY State residents take to apply for a NY State Concealed Carry license. (once referred to as a pistol permit class or handgun safety class).

Starting September 1st 2022, NY State has implemented the new CCIA law. (Concealed Carry Improvement Act) New applicants must take this class to apply for a NY State concealed carry license.  

Only residents of NYC, Suffolk, Westchester, and Nassau Counties – even if they already have a pistol license, must take this class to keep their NY State pistol license or to apply for the first time. All classes are taught by a Certified NRA Instructor.

No other county pistol license holders need to take this class to recertify their NY State pistol license. 

Class to meet/exceed the NYS Concealed Carry Improvement Act Training Requirements for Initial Licensing and First License Renewal after 09/01/22


Note: The NYS Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA) specifically authorizes NRA Certified Instructors to teach the required curriculum.


Short Description: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. The CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor. 


NRA takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. This course may be completed in a single day format or over several days with smaller blocks of instruction. More Details: Course topics include: Firearm Safety (Mandatory), Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment, Firearm Cleaning. Course length is determined by the Instructor, to meet your State’s requirements for a CCW permit. Additionally, students may complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.


Class incorporates NYS Mandated non-NRA Legal & State Shooting Requirements.

Important Information:
 

All students must register for class in advance.


STUDENT WITH PISTOL LICENSE BRINGS - EVERY DAY:


* Valid government issued photo identification (i.e., driver license, passport, etc.)

* Valid NY Pistol License or other authority to own and possess pistols in NY (i.e., police officer, armed peace officer, etc.)

* Sturdy belt for the holster

* Minimum of 350 rounds of factory ammunition (no-reloads) in caliber of firearm suitable for range use only- LIVE AMMUNITION NOT PERMITTED IN CLASSROOM 

 

 -BRING AMMO & YOUR FIREARM, ONLY ON RANGE DAY


* Eye and hearing protection

* Optional range / baseball hat

* Optional sunscreen / insect repellent

* Dress appropriately for an outdoor range and weather conditions

* Cover garment, large shirt or jacket to conceal the firearm during exercises

* Bring lunch, snacks and hydration - we work throughout the day(s)

 

STUDENT WITHOUT PISTOL LICENSE BRINGS (LET ME KNOW IN ADVANCE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A LICENSE):


* Valid government issued photo identification (i.e., driver license, passport, etc.)

* Sturdy belt for a holster

* Eye and hearing protection - I have loaners if needed

* Optional range / baseball hat

* Optional sunscreen / insect repellent

* Dress appropriately for an outdoor range and weather conditions

* Cover garment, large shirt or jacket to conceal the firearm during exercises

* Bring lunch, snacks and hydration - we work throughout the day(s)



 All deposits and payments are non-refundable. They however, may be applied to another class within 12 months of the date payment, providing forty-eight (48) hour cancellation notice is made prior to the start of the scheduled class. Classes may be rescheduled one (1) time within the 12 month period.


 No live ammunition is permitted in the classroom during any class.


 A valid current government issued photo identification is required. For persons in possession of pistols, valid New York Pistol License or other authority to possess, must be presented at the beginning of class.

At the range, we provide the guns, holsters, ammo, targets and class materials at no extra cost to you.   

 All major credit cards are accepted for payments. No personal checks are accepted.

ITAR (International Traffic In Arms Regulations) is a set of Federal regulations generated by the State Department stemming from the Arms Export Control Act of 1976.
 

ITAR restricts training given to non-US Persons.

US Persons are US citizens (both natural-born, and naturalized immigrants) and Permanent Resident Aliens  
 

Current NRA policy is:


 “Under federal law, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course. Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawful permanent residents (e.g., green card holders), (2) refugees, or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course.”

 

By paying for and/or attending classes participants agree that they have read and meet the conditions listed in the Vintage Arms Inc "Terms of Attendance & Safety Warnings.”

To register for the next NYS CCIA Licensing Class, choose the date. Classes are filling up fast.

The lecture portion of the class are held in two locations, either in  Irvington, NY or in Pelham, NY

Depending on the number of students the class location will be announced a week prior to the class.

Range: Blue Mountain Sportsman Center in Cortlandt or Masterclass in Monroe NY (depending on the date) 

Saturday Class start at 8am - 8pm

Sunday: 8am-12 pm classroom 2-4pm range

8Hr. NRA Pistol Safety course is available for those who are interested. 

Vintage Arms will prepare the AZ, NJ, CT and or FL CCW permit application for you including photos and finger prints, if you are interested.
